Helping
Hands – One of the UK’s leading Providers of Home Care and Live-in Care
for the Elderly
Choosing
a home care agency to deliver that vital care an elderly loved ones’ needs
is not always easy. Being able to keep our aging loved ones in their
own home as long as possible is much less stressful, plus can dramatically
reduce the overall costs of long-term care. But how do you go about
finding a company you can have absolute confidence in, and how do you overcome
that fear of entrusting strangers with your loved one’s personal care?

Over
20 years ago the founder of Helping Hands, Mary Lee, ruminated over this
dilemma faced by families. She spotted that there was a gap in community
care services for care provision for elderly people in their own homes.
Mary had a background in social services, and so launched her own home
care company in 1989. Helping Hands Homecare launched as a family
business, and still remains very much that today, with Mary’s sons Ben
and Tim, now at the helm of the business. |
The
name Helping Hands was inspired by a simple gadget that is provided to
elderly people in their homes to help them pick up, or reach, items with
more ease.
The
Community Care Act of 1992 changed the way local authorities could ‘buy
in’ help from private businesses, and business for Helping Hands expanded
rapidly as they won contracts from numerous local authorities. In
1995 Helping Hands opened up their first office in Warwickshire, and this
family businesses now helps care for your family with over 900 homecare
employees nationwide.
Now
Helping Hands offers families across the United Kingdom access to their
live-in care specialists. A Care Manager overseas the care program,
and will constantly review and assess the performance of the carer appointed
to deliver the care program from Helping Hands. As Helping Hands
is committed to excellence, they now have their own training company ‘Training
Matters’, which ensures that all employees at Helping Hands are trained
to the highest standard, and continue their professional development.
